Photographer

Han Youngsoo (1933–1999) was a pioneering Korean photographer known for his poignant street photography that captured the everyday life of post-war Seoul during the 1950s and 1960s. A former soldier turned artist, Han brought a humanistic lens to a city in recovery, documenting moments of resilience, routine, and quiet beauty amid rapid change. His meticulously composed images offer a rare and intimate portrait of modern Korea in transition, bridging the personal and historical through a distinctly poetic visual style.
