“Let’s play a game. Name five female artists - and one of them can’t be Georgia O’Keeffe,” challenges Hall W. Rockefeller, Founder of Less Than Half. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people lose the game. Not because there have been no great women artists, but because they have mostly been written out of or overlooked over the course of history. In honor of Women’s History Month, we have gathered an expert panel of women who work in the art world to explore the question,”why have there been no great women artists?” which was originally posed by Linda Nochlin in 1971. One week from tonight, you will hear from a mix of women in the art world who will discuss the importance of inclusion in the arts and beyond. The panelists will also share their tips for bringing more women into the art world in all facets, why it matters, and what you can do to help make change.
